Most evenings, Ben and I try to squeeze in a little chunk of time together before preparing dinner. Although, referring to it as a ‘chunk’ of time might be overreaching. Chip, fragment, speck of dust floating in the far reaching, outer corners of the universe amount of time is probably more accurate.
Anyway, in those illicit moments alone together, we sit on our deck overlooking the lake and observe the common, nightly miracle that which is the sun dropping into another’s sunrise. There we applaud, as the day's credits roll down over the fiery sky. And we drink booze.
So the other night, while Ben was checking on the grill's progress, I slipped away to shoot the sky. For variety’s sake, I crouched in the bushes to frame the light as so:

I've made a tactical error. I should have told Ben that I'd be here in the bushes, or at least left a trail of breadcrumbs. I'm bleeding-out.
Ben!
Excuse me somebody!
Help me somebody!
O.K., now the mosquitoes are just being assholes. That’s not even blood...give me back my plasma! I have low blood pressure, which is great for life insurance physicals, but for the love of all things holy, someone get me a glass of orange juice and a cookie!
Where are you September?
