This year, St. Nick gave the kids a gingerbread house kit, in spite of Mrs. St. Nick's strong objections. Mrs. St. Nick reminded Mr. St. Nick that the last gingerbread house she put together took two glasses of wine and assistance from a MIT structural engineering student.
Happily, there's been additional research and development in the arena of gingerbread house kits. The gingerbread house kits of 2010 come with a tray, which holds the cookie walls in place and keeps them from collapsing. With this kind of ingenuity, you'd think someone could figure out a better way to package toys. I'd love to open the kids' toy packaging this Christmas without a hacksaw and chisel. A girl can dream anyway.
