It's a cruel summer

The hammock days are running out on us. I feel compelled to jump into random pools and get a sunburn, because soon enough, I'll be back to rummaging around for matching socks every morning.

Wasn't it like the week after the 4th of July when the school supplies came out? Or maybe I'm thinking of the Halloween decorations. Anyway, it was definitely early in the summer. Like I haven't cleaned out the gunk collected in the bottom of last year's school bag early.

So all summer long, whenever Lexi and I we're at Target, I'd keep the threat of back to school shopping in my pocket. If she was hassling me at the store, I'd casually push my cart passed the school supplies and ask her if she wanted to get a leg-up on the school year. She'd stop badgering me about whatever, if only because she’d run from the store screaming.

Ah, summer fun.
