June 2011 Masthead - 1 woman strong

Another month. Another masthead...

Every month when I sit down to write this post [the post about the masthead] I begin typing 'I had planned on a different design but then...' and here's where you insert whatever miscalculation of time or resources I'd banked on that month.

'I had planned on a different design but then my children insisted I feed them everyday so I ran out of time and couldn't design the Sistine Chapel across my website.'

'I had planned on a different design but then I wanted to sleep eight hours a night because I'm physically needy like that. I guess I know where my kids get their everyday eating habit from.'

'I had planned on a different design but then my brain ran out of creative space because I had to remember all this other stuff like buy light bulbs and pick-up my prescription and...'

Hold on, I just thought of something I forgot to do.

I don't recall what everyday calamity got in the way of this month's original design, however, I do remember thinking I wanted to incorporate a disco ball, and no I don't remember why, and I wanted a surreal, sci-fi feel in keeping with the I don't remember why theme.

As to where in my brain this month's tag-line originated, my best guess is that it came from the spot I just recently cleaned out which had been storing the kids' school 'To-Dos.' Field trip slips, whatever special made-up school celebration that inevitably required I dress my kid in a specific color of clothing we don't own or buying poster-board for another large-scale, science project. I will not miss staying up all night helping Lexi glue different species of leaves on poster-board or scrambling around the house on Friday mornings looking for the lost library book. [Friday is library day for the kindergartners at school.] Oh my God, it would be so much easier if they just stayed home and watched TV all day. Stupid learning.

Anyway, June's is up and now I have another month to plan the masthead I won't design.
