Last week, it was above freezing and the sun was out. Yes, OUT! As in, the sun shines so rarely during these months, I suspect Mother Nature suffers from OCD and is worried that the sun could actually wear itself out and then what? Yes, WHAT?
It’s like when we were kids and we’d rapidly flip the wall switches on and off. On and off, and on and off until one of our parents would see the flickering lights, come bounding into the room, clutch their chests and lose all the color from their faces because WHAT WERE WE TRYING TO DO...BREAK THE HOUSE? Now that I’m a parent, I wonder if there’s any documented science behind that fear. Is it really possible for a six year old to wear out a wall switch? We’re talking about six year olds here. The ones whose attention spans won’t allow them to wipe all the food off their faces. Is there really a risk that these same six year olds can stand in one spot long enough to complete the task of destroying part of an electrical system?
My parents had other theories too. For instance, they also told us that all the nutrients in bread was in the crust and milk hampered the digestive process. But that’s for another therapy session post.
Anyway, I’d planned on publishing this photo and post last week when the sun was out and Spring seemed within sight. I was going to tell you that things were “looking-up” and that we’d gone for a record five days without someone running a fever in this house. Except as soon as I got around to editing the photo, the outside temps dropped back into the teens, we got an ice-storm and Heidi threw-up Saturday morning.

I probably should have renamed this post. Maybe something like:
This Winter is Sucking the Living Life Out of Me...It’s Never Going to End and if I Get Another Squirt of Slush Inside My Shoes, I Swear I Will Kneel on Winter’s Chest and Strangle Every Last Snowflake Out of Him!
I have way too many cute shoes to be putting up with this shit.

Winter has been sucking me dry for the past couple of months. Unless you live in CA, FL or HI, winter has been unbearable. I think we are all suffering from a collective sense of despair. Love the photo. Absolutely terrific.
Thanks, girly.
I fired Winter a few weeks ago. It just won't pack it's bags.
Winter is clueless.
I was beginning to feel alive last week too. This week...blah. But that picture is GORGEOUS!
Thanks, sweetie.
i love that first picture.
on the subject of "wearing things out" my grandparents always used to tell us if we didn't use the remote to turn off the tv & used the power button ON the tv we'd break it. yay. whatever.
Hmm. Now that's a whole other freaky thing to obsess over that I've never thought about.
