In the early days after Heidi was born, I stumbled, then fell, then nose dived into a deep depression, all the while crafting handmade tutus. WOWSERS, it makes me near hysterical just thinking about it now. Not the depression so much, but my memories of cutting tutu material and weaving silky red ribbons through the wee morning hours.
I made one to size for each of the girls: Heidi, Whitney and Lexi. Then I made another as a baby gift, and then I decided it probably wasn't a good idea to spend long hours, alone, with sewing scissors in the middle of the night anymore. I put my tutu days behind me, bundled up my creations and planned on pulling them out this Halloween weekend so my two littlest girls can be princesses. I had wanted to dress them up as Gloria Steinem, but couldn't find the right tiaras to match a Gloria costume.
I've landed softly onto fluffy, pink tutus. It's bueno baby – all good.
